Why "ButtSnorkelers"? An Origin Story Nobody Asked For
Every great brand has an origin story. Nike has a swoosh sketched for $35. Apple has a garage. We have a man named Brad, a cheap orange mask, and a group text that got dangerously out of hand. What follows is the completely true, entirely unverifiable story of how ButtSnorkelers.com came to exist — and why we would never change a single ridiculous thing about it.
Fair warning: no part of this needed to happen. That's kind of the whole point.
It started with a very bad nickname
Picture a beach. Picture Brad, waist-deep in water that would never, under any circumstances, reach his chest, wearing a snorkel and giving a thumbs-up to a crowd that was not there. Picture his friends on the sand, watching him bob face-down in eighteen inches of ocean with his back end pointed at the sky like a very confident duck.
Someone — history has protected their identity — yelled, "Look at this butt snorkeler." The beach laughed. Brad, misreading the room entirely, took it as the highest compliment of his life. He has introduced himself that way ever since.
The name that refused to die
The joke should have ended there. It did not. It followed Brad into the group chat, where "butt snorkeler" became a title, then a philosophy, then — after someone checked and discovered the domain was somehow available — a website. We bought ButtSnorkelers.com at 1 a.m. mostly to end the argument. By morning it had a logo, a mascot, and a mission statement none of us remember writing.
We tried, briefly, to be a serious snorkeling brand. It lasted about a day. Turns out the internet does not need another tasteful navy-blue apparel company. It needed this. It needed us, specifically, to lean all the way in.

How Brad became Chief Diving Officer
We did not hire Snorkel Brad so much as fail to stop him from showing up. He appointed himself Chief Diving Officer, printed a business card, and refuses to explain the org chart. He has never been certified in anything. He has never seen a shark, though he will describe several to you in vivid, specific, legally distinct detail.
But Brad embodies the one thing this brand actually stands for: doing something completely ridiculous with your entire chest. Or, in his case, your entire back end. He is the patron saint of confidence unearned and joy fully committed. Naturally, he is the face of everything we make.
What "Dive In. Cheeks First." actually means
Our motto is not really about snorkeling. "Dive In. Cheeks First." is a way of living. It means going at the thing before you've overthought it. It means the enthusiasm can be bigger than the skill. It means you'd rather look a little ridiculous and have the time of your life than stand on the sand keeping your dignity dry.
Nobody on their deathbed ever wished they'd been more cautious in three feet of water. Cheeks first. Every time.
How to join the movement (this is the part where you shop)
You cannot become a ButtSnorkeler by feeling it in your heart. That's not how it works. You have to wear it, ideally somewhere your relatives will see. Start with The Classic Tee — the fastest way to declare your allegiance without saying a word — and top it with The Trucker, engineered to keep the sun off a face that is about to do something bold. Not ready to fully commit? A single sticker on your laptop is how the initiated recognize one another in the wild.
When you're ready to go cheeks-first, the whole ButtSnorkelers collection is right there waiting. Brad gets a commission of exactly zero dollars, which is somehow still more than his snorkeling has ever earned. Welcome to the movement. We're thrilled you asked — or, more accurately, that you didn't.
